CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Store owner chases off attempted burglar

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A burglar was chased off by the store owner of Akala Jewelry, 4230 S 33rd St, in the early hours of Jan. 4, and it was all caught on camera.

The incident began around 2:30 when a shop window was broken in, causing the security alarm to sound and spooking two cats in the shop.

Police and the owner responded to Akala Jewelry, documenting the shattered window. The owner decided to stay at the business until the window could be repaired.

Around 4:30, a suspect can be seen entering the shop through the already broken window. Lincoln Police believe it was the same individual who broken the window hours earlier, returning to finish the job.

Thankfully the shop owner was still on site and spooked the burglar away before any further damage could be caused.

If you have any information related to the crime, call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Lincoln Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
