Celebrating Fathers Day at a softball field

A softball tournament is exactly how some dads wanted to spend their Fathers Day, and not just because they love the sport. It was an entire day they got to spend with their kids.
Sunday, the athletes were playing for much more than a title. They were playing for some special guests in the stands, their dads.
“It’s a good way to spend quality time together and Fathers Day together,” says Atiana Rodriguez, softball player.
Despite the intense heat and less than comfortable bleachers, these dads spent the day doing what they do best. Supporting their daughters, and fulfilling the embarrassing dad title with giant fan buttons.
“She is very good, plays hard, the whole team plays hard, it’s fun to watch,” Bo Robertson, Dad.
One dad in particular was working just as hard as the athletes. He has two daughters playing on two different fields. In between innings he runs back and forth. All while changing shirts to match the team’s colors.
“As long as they are doing what they like doing I am happy to be out here supporting them. They are having a great time and so are we,” says Mark Lutjeharms, Dad.
I asked one dad what his ideal Father’s Day would be. Without hesitation, he says it would be exactly like today
“Oh I love it, I would not have it any other way,” says Mick Colon, Dad.
No matter the outcome of the game today was a win, both for the cheering section of dads and for the girls who were shown so much love from their number one fans.
