Cigarette fires cause $13,000 worth of damage across Lincoln, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue says multiple cigarette fires have already caused $13,000 worth of damage this week.
The first blaze began just before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Authorities say a cigarette set cardboard boxes on fire at the Dollar Tree on Yankee Hill Road.
LFR said there was $3,000 in damage to exterior windows.
Officials say the second blaze happened Tuesday morning in the bedroom of a modular home near North 19th Street and Northville Circle.
A discarded cigarette started the fire a little after 1:20 a.m., LFR said.
It caused $10,000 in smoke damage and displaced three people.
