City of Crete is granted $1.15 million for enhanced rail safety and infrastructure

CRETE, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced that the City of Crete has been awarded $1.15 million from the Federal-State Partnership (FSP) Project Planning Grant.

The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration. It provides funding for enhancing rail safety and to improve infrastructure.

NDOT said the funding will support an evaluation of eight existing at-grade crossing in Crete to see if they should be upgraded, improved or permanently closed.

Crete was one of 41 projects selected as part of a $5.3 billion federal investment.
