Weather Headlines:

A mix of clouds and sun after a morning chance of fog on Sunday in Lincoln. Temperatures will be a touch cooler than Saturday, as a northeasterly wind moves in throughout the day.

Any Sunday morning plans could be impacted by patchy areas of dense fog. Higher levels of moisture from recent rainfall and light winds will create a favorable environment for fog to develop.

Other than overcast skies, short-range runs of StormCast keep most of the state dry. A brief shower or two cannot be ruled out overnight into Sunday morning.

Long-range models continue to show the potential for several wet days through the end of the month. A disturbance will move through the southern plains, enhanced by tropical moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo.

Model estimates favor several more inches of rain for an already rain-soaked southern edge of the state. Flash flooding and river flooding concerns will be monitored throughout the week ahead.

Forecast:

Temperatures will start in the 50s and 60s statewide on Sunday morning. Overcast skies and patchy fog will gradually clear through the morning.

There is a small chance of rain through the overnight in Lincoln. Any showers will likely be very spotty; otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies.

As a weak front moves on through, afternoon highs will dip to the lower and middle 70s on Sunday. Those to the west will have a chance at the lower 80s.

Temperatures will likely struggle early in the day for the Capital City until morning cloud cover clears up a little. Partly sunny skies are expected for the afternoon with highs in the middle 70s.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies continue into the start of the work week. Another round of fog will be possible on Monday morning.

Rain chances increase through the end of the month, with another round of heavy rainfall possible. High temperatures look to dip below average for the first week of October.
