Community invited to event honoring outgoing LPS Superintendent Steve Joel

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools is inviting the community to an event honoring Superintendent Steve Joel.

Last September, Joel announced his plans to retire at the end of the school year.  He joined LPS in 2010 and has a 37-year-career in education.

The district said that during Joel’s 10-year-long tenure, LPS saw “booming” enrollment and built two new schools.

The celebration will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the commons area of Southeast High School.
