Con artists ripping off customers with pre-owned products, Nebraska police warn

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Scammers are luring people into spending hard-earned money, by promising refurbished products for amazing prices.
But they have no plan on delivering them. That’s according to a new post shared by the Bellevue Police Department.
It says the BBB Scam Tracker has been receiving reports on great deals for like-new devices, that never arrive.
The con includes everything from car parts to hair dryers, being sold through legit looking websites.
You’ll even get a message saying your order is confirmed, but the shipping confirmation never arrives.
Each time you contact the seller they’ll become less responsive, until they’re impossible to reach.
To protect yourself, experts suggest not buying from any site with a lot of typos.
Look for customer reviews and complaints as well. It’s a red flag if you can’t find anything.
Low quality photos should also make you think twice, and carefully check for any mistakes with the URL.
