Cornhusker Bank, People’s City Mission collects thousands of shoes for Lincolnites

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Those in need received a new pair of shoes on Thursday as part of the Day Without Shoes drive in Lincoln.

The People’s City Mission and Cornhusker Bank hosted the annual drive, which started in 2011.

Community members could only drop off shoes at Cornhusker Bank locations.

“We’ve collected over 44,000 pairs of shoes,” said Cariassa Bullock, vice president of marketing at Cornhusker Bank. “We just love the impact it’s making, the faces of the kids being able to pick whatever shoes they want.”

Cornhusker Bank CEO Barry Lockard also presented an $8,000 check to the mission, bringing the total monetary contributions to $110,000.

“Being a community bank, we feel blessed being able to partner with organizations like this to help those in need,” Bullock said.
