Cornhusker State Games kick off with opening ceremonies

The 35th annual Cornhusker State Games kicked off with opening ceremonies at Seacrest field Friday evening. 

The ceremonies began with a parade of athletes, skydivers, a presentation of the colors and more leading up to the torch lighting. 

This year over 10,000 amateur athletes are signed up for over 60 events that will last over two weekends. 

Events ranging from chess, corn hole, figure skating, martial arts and walking will all be included in the games, plus many more. 

The mystery torch lighters wrapped up the ceremonies.  Kaylee and Elizabeth Jones of the Nebraska Weslyan Track Team who were members of seven national chamiponships in the 1600 meter relay throughout their college careers.
