COVID-19 vaccines for children under 5 available starting Wednesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – COVID-19 vaccines for children under the age of 5 will be available in Lancaster County starting on Wednesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the final approval for the vaccine back in June.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department will be hosting vaccine clinics Monday through Friday for young children.  These clinics are appointment only, officials say.

Clinic schedule:

  • July 6 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, 3131 O St.
  • July 9 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Pediatric Group, 4501 S. 70th St.
  • July 13 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at LLCHD
  • July 16 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Complete Children’s Health, 8201 Northwoods Dr.
  • July 20 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at LLCHD
  • July 27 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at LLCHD

Parents who have already registered their children are now being contacted to schedule an appointment.

They can also schedule an appointment at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov or by calling 402-441-4200.

“Young children can now receive COVID-19 vaccine and benefit from the protection it provides,” Health Director Pat Lopez said.  “We continue work with partners to make vaccination convenient and accessible and help parents get the information they need to make the best choices for their children.”
