UPDATE: Man assaults boy causing concussion, broken nose

The suspect has now been identified and is in custody.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A teenager was assaulted by a stranger in Walgreens, 8300 Northern Lights Dr.

The incident took place on Sept. 20 around 9:30 p.m. Two teenagers, both 16-years-old, were in the store when an adult male entered and accused them of gang activity.

Deciding to leave Walgreens, the man allegedly followed the two teenagers outside where he punched the one and kicked him while he was down.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and received surgery for a broken nose. Lincoln Police report the victim still has significant head injuries from the assault.

Lincoln Police say there was no indication that the victims were involved in gang activity, the encounter was unprovoked.

Thanks to tips sent in by the community, the suspect was identified as 29-year-old Kevin McCaul. Officers were also able to identify a bank card used at the Walgreens as McCaul’s.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, McCaul turned himself in. He was arrested for first-degree assault.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding a man suspected of assaulting a teenage boy.

According to Crime Stoppers, the boy and his friend were walking to the Walgreens at 84th and Northern Lights Dr. where “some words were exchanged” with an adult man.

The boys reported the man followed them out of the store and punched one of them in the face.

The boy suffered a broken nose a concussion among other injuries, according to Crime Stoppers.
