Deputies investigating homicide after finding body north of Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Douglas County deputies are investigating a homicide after a person stumbled across a body north of Omaha on Monday.
Deputies were sent to the area of 66th Street and Rainwood Road after a witness reported finding the body, which was lying about 15 feet from the roadway.
The body has not yet been identified, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
The sheriff’s office said this is the second body found near Rainwood Road in the last seven months.
But as of right now, there is no evidence that the two cases are related, according to a press release.
Last week, deputies also found a “skeletonized body part” in a field near 216th Street and Rainwood Road but have not yet classified it as a homicide.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 402-444-6000.
