Deputy Sheriff asks whoever keeps stealing stop signs to quit
LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has been dealing with cases of people stealing stop signs.
The stop signs have been stolen from the area of Southwest Lancaster County. The theft occurred around Oct. 18-20.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said five stop signs had been stolen during that time.
“We are asking the public for some help,” Houchin said. “I’m asking whoever is doing this to stop before somebody actually gets hurt in a crash or even worse.”
He said the damage is estimated at $200 to $300 a sign, coming in around $1,000 to $1,5000 total.
“This isn’t funny, this isn’t a prank. This could get somebody hurt,” Houchin said.
