Doane Football Places 24 on All-GPAC List

The Doane football team placed 24 players on the 2015 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) all-conference list on Tuesday. The Tigers had seven players earn First Team, five players earn Second Team and 13 players named to honorable mention. One Tiger received multiple honors.

Nate Meier (JR/Pierce, Neb.) earned First Team honors at running back for the Tigers, ranking third in the NAIA in rushing yards per game with 135.8. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark at home against Dordt and stands at 1,222 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Blake Bunner (SR/Blue Hill, Neb.) received First Team honors as he helped anchor the offensive line that rushed for 218.4 yards during the regular season, 20th best in the NAIA.

Jordan Pedersen (SR/Crete, Neb.) was named the First Team place kicker, leading the GPAC in field goals made (10) and sitting second in points scored with 71.

Drew Klein (SO/Papillion, Neb.) was recognized as the First Team kick returner, leading the GPAC with 29.2 yards per return. He has one touchdown return on the season.

Aaron Hanlin (JR/Pierce, Neb.) was tabbed First Team on the defensive line, recording 43 total tackles, including 8.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He has recovered two fumbles with one pass break up.

Garrett Borcher (SR/Pawnee City, Neb.) was picked First Team at linebacker, notching a team-high 73 tackles during the regular season. He has 8.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Cole Wiseman (SO/Sutton, Neb.) rounds out the First Team honorees at defensive back. The Tiger safety is fourth on the team with 51 total tackles. He has two tackles for loss and one interception this season.

Kellen Unvert (SR/Sterling, Neb.) received Second Team honors at tight end. He is fifth on the team with 11 receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown.

Zach Reeves (JR/Central City, Neb.) was named to the Second Team for the offensive line. Doane currently ranks third-best in the NAIA in sacks allowed with seven.

Drew Krueger (JR/Fort Calhoun, Neb.) picked up Second Team honors on the defensive line and has 22 total tackles on the season, including 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. He has one fumble recovery.

Andy Tatum (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) was recognized at linebacker on the Second Team. He has 40 tackles on the season, including 7.0 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Ben Muff (SR/Crete, Neb.) was chosen at defensive back for the Second Team. He has 26 tackles and four interceptions on the season.

Jacob Cornelius (JR/Grand Island, Neb.) was named honorable mention after leading the team with 34 receptions for 676 yards and 11 touchdowns. His touchdown total is third best in the GPAC.

Jordan Pelletier (JR/San Antonio, Texas) was picked to the honorable mention list at defensive line. He has 23 tackles on the season, including 5.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Colten Mach (JR/Crete, Neb.) received honorable mention honors after posting 56 tackles in the regular season. He has 8.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and one interception.

Alex Thatch (SR/Aurora, Colo.) joined the honorable mention list after posting 29 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss from his linebacker position.

Tyler Chapa (SR/San Antonio, Texas) picked up honorable mention honors at defensive back with 11 tackles and one interception despite missing three games.

Pedersen was also named to the honorable mention list, this time for his accomplishments in punting. He averaged 39.1 yards per punt with 17 placed inside the 20-yard line and 10 punts over 50 yards.

Brandon Stuart (SR/Bayard, Neb.) was tabbed honorable mention at quarterback after throwing for 1,187 yards in 10 games. He threw 14 touchdowns in the regular season.

Tanner Thomas (SR/Mesa, Ariz.) is among the NAIA leaders in interceptions this year with five, earning him honorable mention recognition at defensive back. He has 23 tackles on the season.

Andrew Vinton (SR/North Platte, Neb.) was named honorable mention at linebacker. He has 61 tackles on the season with 2.5 tackles for loss.

Holden Wetzler (SR/Creighton, Neb.) moved out to receiver this year and picked up honorable mention honors. He has seven receptions on the year for 97 yards and four touchdowns.

D.J. Bamesberger (SR/Hampton, Neb.) was in on 17 tackles after being limited in action early this season, earning honorable mention on the defensive line.

Arik Todd (SR/Eagle, Neb.) was chosen honorable mention on the offensive line. He has helped the Tigers rush for 19 touchdowns on the ground this season.

Corey Kalkwarf (SR/Crete, Neb.) is second on the team with 29 receptions for 263 yards and one touchdown. He received honorable mention honors at wide receiver from the GPAC.

Doane will resume their season this weekend in the NAIA National Championship Series First Round at Tabor College. The game marks the Tigers first trip to the playoffs since the 1999 season.
