Dodge County scammer finds inmates’ families for bond money
DODGE COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) announced a recent scam in Dodge County that is effecting residents of Nebraska.
The scammers were reportedly using online jail lists to find inmates who have recently been arrested. They then find those individuals on social media, finding their family members and contacting them directly.
The scammers claimed the family members needed to pay a certain amount of money to get their loved one out of jail.
WCSO reminds residents that law enforcement will not request bail money over the phone.
