Downtown Lincoln businesses see a boost to sales over game day weekend

Husker Fans Allowed To Attend Games Again

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Downtown Lincoln businesses had a much-needed boost in revenue over the weekend, all thanks to Husker game day.

The last two home games, which also have been in the evening hours, have made for some busy weekends in the Haymarket. Lincoln bars and restaurants are taking advantage of the extra fans and sales.

“2020 and 2021 have been disappointing, but with great teams like Michigan and Ohio State coming to Lincoln, (it) will and did have a tremendous increase in enthusiasm,” Stephen Engel, Managing Partner of Buzzard Billy’s said. “It reminded me of Nebraska old. Nebraska is delivering a quality product on the field, and it produces an increase of sales and optimism.”

“We’re always happy to host Husker Nation at Barry’s for game day. Night games just hit differently covering the City in a Sea of Red for a full weekend,” Mark Suleiman, the owner of Barry’s said. “We enjoyed a great weekend at Barry’s and Goodly Cookies – kudos to Husker Athletics and our guests from Northwestern and Michigan for making it a great set of weekends in Lincoln.”
