LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Dozens braved the freezing rain Sunday afternoon for a ‘Back the Blue’ event at Eagle Raceway to show support for local law enforcement and military.

The event was put on by Patriotic Productions, all in support of local law enforcement and military. Country music artist, Lee Greenwood, sang the national anthem and several people spoke out during the program while guests listened from the grand stands.

“If you call and you need them they are there, that’s amazing for someone to be able to do that and devote their lives to the well being of the community and of others, I will support that regardless of any weather,” Colton Steer, a Lincoln man, said.

This is the second “Back the Blue’ event this year, the first one was held in Omaha. The organizers felt it was important to hold another one after Investigator Mario Herrera lost his life in the line of duty back in August.

Those in attendance said they feel law enforcement deserves more credit for their sacrifices.

“Especially with the turmoil going on in the world today, it’s good to have the backing of those who swear their lives to us,” Steer said.
