LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Grand Island Police Department says officers arrested a man whose SUV was full of drugs, weapons and liquor.

This happened just after midnight on Saturday, near West 4th and North Eddy Streets.

Officers say they first noticed that Sergio Lopez-Perez was driving with bad taillights, then he blew through a traffic signal without stopping.

Once officers pulled him over, Lopez-Perez got out of the vehicle and repeatedly refused commands to get back in, police said.

Officers then discovered a busted meth pipe on the ground near the driver’s door, which a passenger says broke when Lopez-Perez got out, according to police.

Inside the vehicle, officers also report finding a gun with a defaced serial number, a large knife measuring over 10 inches long, two open liquor containers and more than 30 grams of marijuana.

Records show that Lopez-Perez is a convicted felon in multiple states and prohibited from possessing deadly weapons.

Authorities say he also didn’t have a valid driver’s license, insurance or proof that the vehicle was his.
