Duo went on Menards shopping spree with stolen checks, Nebraska police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Stolen rebate checks were used to buy around $1,000 worth of items from a Nebraska hardware store this week.
The Grand Island Police Department says Ronald Sowards and Lynnette Griffith went on a shopping spree at Menards on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were alerted that the checks had been stolen from several other people.
Police later found Sowards and Griffith in a vehicle that was full of items they’re accused of buying with the ill-gotten rebates.
Officers arrested Sowards, who was on parole, for possession of stolen property.
Griffith, who police said had meth in her purse, is facing the same charge, plus possession of a controlled substance.
