‘Everyone wants to be seen’: Nebraskans mark International Transgender Day of Visibility

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – March 31 marks International Transgender Day of Visibility. To honor the day, OutNebraska is reminding people how to be good advocates for the community.

“Days like today, where we can come together as a community, are really important for folks because everyone wants to be seen and valued and respected and treated with dignity,” Abbi Swatsworth, the executive director of OutNebraska, said.

Swatsworth said days like Thursday are especially important in light of the political climate in which multiple states have passed anti-transgender laws.

For people wanting to show their support to the transgender community, Swatsworth said to reach out to those you love and let them know they are seen, heard and loved.
