Blaze causes $225,000 in damage to Lincoln auto shop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue is telling everyone to stay away from an auto shop that caught fire late Sunday night.

More than a dozen units were called to Komi Auto Sales near 22nd and Y Streets around 10:30 p.m.

Crews saw heavy smoke and flames spreading across a side of the building when they arrived.

Firefighters finally extinguished the blaze about an hour and a half later but continued monitoring the building for any hot spots.

LFR spokeswoman Nancy Crist said the cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.

She estimated that the flames caused $150,000 in damage to the structure and another $75,000 in damage to the shop’s contents.

No one was injured in the fire.

Anyone walking by the building should be cautious, as LFR said the shop is at risk of collapsing due to the damage.
