Family of Ed Parker, a missing man, believe remains found outside Beatrice are Parker’s

A farmer in Gage County found a body last week. One family said they think they know who it is.

Ed Parker, from Beatrice, was a friend to all and a man of faith, his uncle John Thomas said.

The 37-year-old has also been missing since June 1st.

“Everyone knows Ed,” Thomas said. “They’ve all been wondering, where’s Ed?”

But with the discovery of the body, Thomas thinks their search may be over.

“They found Ed’s phone,” he said.

The Gage County Sheriff said they need to send the body to forensic investigators, and can’t confirm if it’s Parker’s body at this time.

But Thomas said his family is pretty sure.

“We know the Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Police are doing everything they can do, they’re combing fields, searching everything they can for clues,” Thomas said.

A release from the sheriff said the body was found near West Locust Street in rural Beatrice.

They won’t say whether or not foul play is suspected.

“We just don’t know. Police are going on the facts that somebody did this and they want to catch them,” Thomas said.

Thomas also wants people to know the family is taken care of, and they don’t need help right now.

“Quit spreading rumors,” Thomas said. “And quit trying to raise money for him because his family, we are taking care of this, it’s already done.”

Amid all the questions that remain, they’re just looking for a little closure.

“We didn’t know– is he still alive somewhere? Is he hurt somewhere, are they holding him for some reason,” Thomas said. “We’re pretty sure we have closure. They’re 90 percent sure it’s him, it brings me peace.”

Thomas did ask that anyone who knows what happened to Parker to call the Beatrice Police Department at (402) 223-4080.
