Fatal crash in Otoe County leaves one man dead and two in critical condition

A serious crash in Otoe County has left one man dead and two people in critical condition.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A serious crash in Otoe County has left one man dead and two people in critical condition. Deputies with the sheriff’s office and the Nebraska State Patrol were called to a crash east of Palmyra.

Upon arrival, officials detailed a head on crash between a semi-truck and an SUV. The driver and two passengers of an east bound SUV were transported to Bryan West for injuries. The driver of the SUV, forty-five-year-old Michael McClintock of Pawnee City was pronounced dead at the hospital due to his injuries.

Officials say the two passengers of the SUV were taken tot he hospital and said to be in critical, but stable condition. The driver of the semi was treated at the Syracuse hospital for minor injuries.

The area of the crash on Highway 2 is a four-lane highway divided by a grass median. Officials say weather conditions at the time of the crash consisted of icy roads and blowing snow that had a negative impact on visibility. Deputies said seatbelts were worn in both vehicles. Any suspicion of alcohol use is not known just yet. The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating.
