FDA may approve second COVID-19 vaccine booster for all adults

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Food and Drug Administration is considering authorizing a second round of COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all adults.

As of right now, only immunocompromised adults and those over 50 are able to get another booster.

As the omicron BA.5 variant spreads, experts are beginning to worry about waning immunity among younger adults.

But only about half of eligible Americans received their first booster, and only a quarter of those authorized for the second round have been back for another dose.

On Tuesday, the Lancaster County COVID-19 risk dial was raised to low orange for the first time since February.
