Fire causes $45,000 in damage to Lincoln apartment building, LFR says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A fire at an apartment building near 9th and G Streets on Monday caused about $45,000 in damage, Lincoln Fire & Rescue says.
When crews arrived at the apartment around 12:30 p.m., they saw heavy smoke coming from a second-floor apartment.
LFR spokeswoman Nancy Crist said Tuesday that crews extinguished the flames quickly, but the apartment had damage from fire and heavy smoke.
No one was injured in the fire.
The apartment below also had water damage, and Crist said both units will be temporarily uninhabitable, displacing several residents.
Crist estimated that $30,000 in damage was done to the building’s structure and another $15,000 to the units’ contents.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
