Fire scare at Lincoln church started with a fake call about flames inside, officials say
UPDATE, 9:50 a.m. — The Lincoln Police Department says the caller had some kind of mental health problem.
No arrests or citations have been made.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A caller claimed there was a fire inside St. Mary’s Catholic church in Lincoln early Thursday morning, but nothing was found.
That’s according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue, which says the unknown person also told authorities their friend was injured.
Crews never came across anyone. This all started around 3 a.m. near 14th and K Streets.
More than a dozen units responded, and the scene was cleared about 30 minutes later.
LFR told Channel 8 that the Lincoln Police Department is investigating.
