LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former employee of Beatrice Public Schools has been arrested on enticement and child abuse charges.

Beatrice Police say the arrest stemmed from a report about concerning social media messages between 28-year-old Casey Schaefer and a 14-year-old boy.

Authorities say the messages “appeared to be enticing and questionable in nature,” and suggest the two were possibly involved in an intimate relationship.

Schaefer was employed as a paraeducator at Beatrice Public Schools prior to her arrest.

Gage County Attorney Roger Harris told Channel 8 Eyewitness News there is currently no information indicating there are other victims.

No charges had been filed as of Friday morning.

Harris said his office is continuing to work with law enforcement on the investigation.

“We want to be thorough with this,” he said.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News reached out to Beatrice Public Schools and is expecting a response soon.
