Former Husker coach Erik Chinander hired at Boise State

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Nebraska defensive coordinator Erik Chinander landed a job at Boise State, the university announced Friday.

Chinander, who led the Huskers’ defense from 2018 to 2022, will be the defensive line coach at Boise State.  He will also serve as the defensive run game coordinator.

“Erik coaches an aggressive style of defense that fits well as we continue to grow our program,” Broncos head coach Andy Avalos said in a press release. “He brings a ton of experience at the college and pro level and I can’t wait for him to get to know our players.”

Nebraska fired Chinander early on in the 2022 season after a blowout loss to Oklahoma.  Former head coach Scott Frost had been fired the week prior.

Before coming to Nebraska in 2018, Chinander coached at UCF with Frost.  He also spent time coaching at Oregon and in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles.
