Former Husker Trey Palmer selected in 6th round of NFL draft
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Husker wide receiver Trey Palmer is heading to the NFL.
Palmer, who transferred to Nebraska from LSU last season, was selected in the sixth round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Palmer was a standout among Nebraska’s offense, breaking the school’s single-season receiving record with 1,043 yards.
The Louisiana native came to Nebraska after three seasons at LSU, where he played in 28 games and totaled 458 receiving yards.
Nebraska edge rusher Ochaun Mathis was taken in the 6th round by the Los Angeles Rams with the 189th overall pick.
Mathis ranked second on the Huskers with 3.5 sacks and added 5.0 tackles for loss and 50 total tackles with two pass breakups in 2022.
Other former Huskers Garrett Nelson signed with the Miami Dolphins, and Travis Vokolek signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
