Former Lincoln city councilman announces bid for state Legislature

Roy Christensen has filed to run in legislative district 28.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former city councilman announced he’s running for a Nebraska legislative seat.

Roy Christensen has filed to run in legislative district 28.

“I believe in Lincoln and Nebraska. I deliberately chose Lincoln as a place to raise my family,” Christensen said in a press release on Tuesday. “There is too much strife in the world. Locally, I am tired of the conflict between our political parties. I’ve always believed in people over politics and have prided myself on being able to work effectively across the aisle with all sides of the political spectrum to get things done. It’s time to come together.”

Christensen is no stranger to the spotlight. He served on Lincoln’s city council for eight years, before being voted out of office in 2021. Tom Beckius replaced him last year. Christensen even grabbed headlines by saying he suffered a stroke after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

He’s also a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Independent Business Association while owning a Christensen Hearing Analytics in town.
