Former Lincoln restaurant owner accused of evading over $160,000 in payroll taxes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The former owner of 9 South CharGrill was charged Friday in a 10-count indictment with failure to pay payroll taxes.
From 2018 to 2021, 55-year-old Brett Richardson failed to pay $161,817.84 to the IRS, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Richardson was charged with one count for every calendar quarter a payment was missed, authorities said.
If Richardson is convicted, he could serve up to five years in prison and pay a $250,000 fine.
He would also serve a three-year term of supervised release and take part in a $100 special assessment on all counts.
