Free at last, ship no longer stuck in Suez Canal
EGYPT (KLKN) — The Ever Given is free at last! After being lodged in the Suez Canal for six days, the Suez Canal Authority reported the ship was set free around 3 p.m. Horns were blaring in celebration as the colossal container ship refloated.
Ten tug boats worked tirelessly to jostle the vessel free as the full moon brought in the spring tide, said Leth Agencies.
Monday, the ship first became stuck in the canal bringing traffic to a halt and creating a massive traffic jam along the water. It has held up about $9 billion each day in global trade and strained the supply chains already burdened by the pandemic.
