Friday forecasts a freeze coming up with chilly afternoon
Friday morning was able to escape the 30-degree temperatures with the help of some cloud cover, but temperatures will struggle to make it out of the 40s by noon. A cool fall afternoon is before us today, with highs only reaching the mid 50s. Winds will remain out of the north until the morning hours of Saturday, which will help a warming trend through the weekend.
We will start out with some quick early morning showers before the cloud cover slides to the southeast to give us mostly sunny skies this afternoon.
Channel 8’s Game of the Week will be the York Dukes facing the Seward Bluejays at 7 p.m. tonight. Kickoff temperatures will be in the upper 40s for a chilly night, great weather for high school football. It will be partly cloudy this evening with calm winds out of the north northeast.
As of Friday morning, freeze warnings and frost advisories were issued for the cold weather expected in the morning hours of Saturday. Current warnings and advisories for Saturday are in efect for 1 a.m. through 9 a.m. Most of the state is expected to see these lows dropping into the lower 30s.
As for the extended forecast, it will only be cooler for the next couple of days before we warm up to near-normal temperatures in the lower 70s by the end of the weekend.
