Friendship Home: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Registration is open until September 30.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — October is domestic violence awareness month and the Friendship Home in Lincoln has events coming up.

Safe Quarters is their annual door to door drive and awareness campaign. This has been moved online for the 2nd year for the safety of the community and volunteers. Safe Quarters is typically Friendship Home’s largest event raising over $140,000 each year to ensure that their shelter doors remain open.

Once registered, team captains are given a crowd funding link and virtual tool kit that they can share with their entire team to encourage the support of neighbors, family, friends, coworkers, employers, etc.

“Not only does this event raise funds needed for our programs that help rebuild lives but it also brings awareness to domestic violence and the services offered by Friendship Home,” Community Outreach Coordinator for Friendship Home, Nichole Palmer said.
