Frost likely over the next few nights….then a summer pattern emerges.

First severe weather outbreak of the season?

The cold intrusion, while notable for its late calendar date, will be replaced by warmer values sooner than you think. And part of the process of air mass change will involve thunderstorms, some of which may be severe in the Great Plains and Midwest over the next two weeks.

As a large trough digs into the west coast, our upper level winds will turn to the south as more moisture gets drawn north.  Our severe weather chances increase after mid month.
