Authorities are warning of a fraud circulating among Gage County residents.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office says a Beatrice woman reported getting a call from a male who was “very pleasant, using winsome, gladsome, and ingratiating comments” to try and obtain information from her. The caller asked the woman “Guess who this is Grandma?” and followed the question with pleasantries in an attempt to get her to reveal her identity or trick her into believing one of her grandchildren was calling, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim reported being aware of these types of scams and did not provide any personal information.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office says this scam, and other frauds, are currently being tried on residents in Gage County. Anyone who gets such a call should not provide any personal information and should alert authorities.
