GIPD receives grant to upgrade technology and public safety enhancements
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — The Grand Island Police Department (GIPD) received a grant from the Fiscal Year 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program.
The grant is for $29,838.
According to GIPD, 75% of the grant will be used to upgrade computers in GIPD patrol vehicles. The other 25% will be allocated to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for license plate readers.
The award was approved by the Office of Justice Programs on July 31.
