Gov. Jim Pillen signs expansion of mental health services in Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Gov. Jim Pillen signed the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Act on Thursday.
Legislative Bill 276, which was introduced by Sen. Anna Wishart, provides increased access to mental health and substance abuse treatment in Nebraska.
“This bill is going to do a lot of good, for a lot of people in our state,” Wishart said.
The federally certified clinics will provide outpatient mental health and substance use services in communities across the state.
Nebraskans can also receive screenings, risk assessments and crisis mental health services at the clinics.
Since the bill has an emergency clause, it goes into effect immediately.
