Gov. Ricketts appoints new State Board of Education member

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed Kirk Penner of Aurora to the Nebraska Board of Education, District 5.

Penner will serve the rest of the unexpired term for District 5, which runs through January 4, 2023. The next election takes place on November 2022. Patricia Timm resigned earlier in the year and had left the district 5 position vacant.

Penner previously served on the Aurora Public Schools Board for 16 years and holds a B.S. in Business in Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Penner currently is the President of Penner Patient Care, a company that distributes bathing systems to long-term care facilities.

District 5 contains Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward and York counties.
