Grand Island man pleads guilty in shooting death

A 21-year-old Grand Island man has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder in the shooting death of another man last summer.

Mohamed Said Abdulkadir entered the plea Tuesday in Hall County District Court in a deal with prosecutors. In exchange, charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two weapons counts against Abdulkadir have been dropped. His sentencing date has not been set.

The case stems from the Aug. 27, 2009, slaying of Nyuol Majak Angok Mathok and the wounding of Mathok's cousin, Arkanjelo Kot, at Kot's apartment.

Another man, 25-year-old Abdi Mohamed, faces trial on first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and weapons counts for the shootings.
