Habitat for Humanity dedicates new home to Lincoln family

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –  Friends and loved ones came together to welcome a Lincoln family into their brand-new home Friday afternoon.

Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln dedicated this new home to Osman and Amal Ahmed along with their five children.

The home is located in west Lincoln, near the children’s school.  It’s also conveniently close to local grocery stores and restaurants.

Deanna Walz, director of development for Habitat of Humanity, says the Ahmeds didn’t just receive the home, but they were also involved in the building process.

“We’ve had our volunteers come out, we had the family come out and put in hours on the home,” Walz said. “And today is the culmination of all that hard work. Osman and Amal are moving into their brand new home today with their 5 kids.”

The family expressed their appreciation and gratitude at Friday’s dedication event.

“I’m so so so excited,” Amal said. “I want to thank everyone who participated in this beautiful work and beautiful home.”

The Ahmeds will be moving into their new home very soon.

Habitat for Humanity says they already broke ground on two additional homes.  Both are right next door to the Ahmed family.
