Handgun found on juvenile at York Middle School
YORK, Neb. (KLKN) — Today, a report was made to York Police Department (YPD) regarding a juvenile at York Middle School possibly having a weapon on school property.
School Resource Officer Mostrom made contact with the student immediately. Multiple prohibited items, including a handgun, was discovered.
According to YPD, the juvenile was cooperative and transported to YPD for interviews and investigation.
Chief of Police Edward Tjaden says there is no belief of any ongoing threat or current danger to the students, staff or community.
The investigation has included interviews and searches at York Middle School, with the juvenile and his family and parents being cooperative.
The juvenile is in custody, according to YPD.
