Handmade knives and sword stolen from a Lincoln man’s truck

Garrett Elting was a runner-up on the hit show "Forged in Fire" on the History Channel

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man who was on the hit history channel show, “Forged in Fire” is speaking out tonight after he had thousands of dollars worth of handmade knives and a sword he made on the TV show stolen from his pickup truck last night near 21st and Superior.

Garrett Elting says the theft will put him out thousands of dollars and he will have to completely restart the work, which took him more than 86 hours to complete.  Speaking to the people responsible he said, “It’s Christmas season, you know?  Not only did you take money from my family, but you took time from them as well.

Elting explained that he went to speak with a client last night and didn’t think to take the items out of his truck because he knew he’d be going to the shop today and would put them away then.

He warned the sword is razor sharp and if not handled properly could seriously injure someone.

With the  knives being custom made there are not many in circulation.  Elting said if you see a knife with his logo on it or see one for sale to call him at 402-613-0783 and ask if it may be one of the knives stolen.

According to Elting and other neighbors they said that at least five vehicles were broken into last night.

If people have any information regarding these break-ins and thefts they should contact Lincoln police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
