Heavy rainfall causes flash flooding in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. — A storm rolled into Lincoln on Thursday night, bringing such fast and heavy rainfall that some streets flooded.

At 27th and Superior Streets, first responders helped out after a car got stuck in the water.

And one man told Channel 8 that the water in some downtown streets was too high to drive through.

The rain fell as fast as 1 inch every 15 minutes, according to Meteorologist Rusty Dawkins.

Lincoln received 1.75 inches in less than 2 hours.

In Malcolm, 2.5 inches of rain was reported.
