HHS launches website to help families find baby formula

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The federal government launched a website on Friday to help families find baby formula during the national shortage.
The Department of Health and Human Services fact sheet has manufacturer hotlines, community resources, general guidance and information for families for the Women, Infants, and Children program.
On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced that his administration was stepping up its response to the nationwide shortage.
In an effort to get more product on the shelves, Biden said his administration would cut red tape on the types of formula that can be purchased and increase the supply of formula by boosting imports.
The national baby formula shortage was caused by a recall issued by the Food and Drug Administration back in February, along with supply chain disruptions.
According to HHS, manufacturers have increased production by 30 to 50 percent, bringing total production above pre-recall levels.
