A line of very strong thunderstorms came through the Lincoln area overnight producing high wind gusts and heavy rain.

A home and vehicle near ‘O’ street and 70th street in east Lincoln was damaged after a big tree limb split in half. The limb landed on the homeowners truck causing damage but did not break through the roof of the home. A resident spoke with Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter Alexa Skonieski off camera saying she heard the high winds but never thought this would be the outcome.

Others in the area also heard the storms roll through the Capital city overnight, one former neighbor even saying he saw trash cans rolling down the street.

Channel 8 Meteorologist Liz Whalley said the winds in Lincoln almost reached 60 miles per hour early this morning with just about 2 inches of rain and lots of lightning.
