Highlights and scores from first day of Nebraska girls basketball tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The 2023 girls state basketball tournament is underway in Lincoln at both Pinnacle Bank Arena and the Devaney Center.

The tourney began on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, when a champion will be crowned.

Class A

Lincoln High 64, Millard West 55: Lincoln High was led by Dyvine Harris, who scored 16 points.

Millard North 54, Lincoln North Star 37: A young Lincoln North Star team competed in its first state appearance in school history. But Millard North’s Sara Harley helped seal the win by opening the second half with three straight 3s.

Millard South 72, Lincoln Southwest 58: Lincoln Southwest junior Kennadi Williams scored a team-high 23 points, but Millard South’s senior-led offense prevailed. Cora Olsen finished with 31 points, and Khloe Lemon finished with 17 for the Patriots.

Class C1

Malcolm 46, Wahoo 32: Malcolm freshman Halle Dolliver had 19 points and 14 rebounds on her way to helping the Clippers defeat Wahoo for the first time this season.

Bridgeport 61, Lincoln Christian 57: The Crusaders fought hard and almost upset Bridgeport in the Class C1 quarterfinals. Lincoln Christian led at halftime, and the game was close until the end.
