The Holdrege community is left with questions after a deadly shooting on Thursday.

“There’s just been a lot of confusion after the tragic event,” said Mayor Doug Young. “We’re not unique in communities. Anything can happen and does happen. The very good thing is we had three law enforcement agencies respond very, very quickly.”

The Nebraska State Patrol said Manuel Gomez, 45, shot three men at three separate locations.

Raymond Burton, 65, and David Rogers, 54, were pronounced dead on Thursday, according to the patrol.

Authorities said a third victim, Doyle Morse, 64, was able to call 911 after being shot. Morse was air lifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

A visibly distraught Young told NTV on Good Morning Nebraska Friday that three people had died in shootings. A CHI Good Samaritan spokesperson confirmed to NTV Friday that Morse is alive.
