LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska fans will have to wait a little while longer to find out who will be the Huskers’ next football coach.

Athletic Director Trev Alberts spoke about the search on Wednesday’s edition of the “Sports Nightly” radio show.

“You know, we have a lot of interest here, and people are just really interested, which I think is wonderful,” he said. “But things are going well.”

Alberts said there wouldn’t be an announcement yet, but he has been very pleased with the process so far.

He asked fans for patience as the search continues.

“I understand it’s hard sometimes to say, ‘Just be a little bit patient,’ we’ll have to be there as a fan base,” Alberts said.

Several rumors have been swirling across social media regarding the Huskers’ next coach, including names like Deion Sanders, Lance Leipold and Matt Rhule.

In September, Alberts did say that interim head coach Mickey Joseph would be an “obvious” candidate for the head coaching position.
