Husker Bryce McGowens selected in second round of NBA Draft

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Husker freshman standout Bryce McGowens was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft.
Using their 40th pick, Minnesota selected the Nebraska guard. Then with a draft-night trade, Minnesota sent McGowens to the Charlotte Hornets.

The South Carolina native declared for the NBA Draft after the conclusion of the Huskers’ 2021-22 season.
During his first year in Nebraska, he put up 16.8 points per game with 43 assists.
Despite a disappointing season from the Huskers, McGowens stood out in the Big Ten and earned numerous awards.
In his first year alone, McGowens was Third-Team All-Big Ten, the Associated Press’ Big Ten Newcomer of the Year and Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

Along with those merits, McGowens also won eight Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards.
He also set school records for most points by a freshman in a conference game, 29, and season, 522.
